Our L14-30 adapter lets you charge your Tesla vehicle at L14-30 outlets. This adapter is compatible with both the Gen 2 and the Gen 3 Tesla Mobile Connector. These types of outlets are often found on generators and some industrial equipment. This adapter is compatible with ALL Tesla vehicles, including Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck.
For your safety, this adapter has an internal circuit that monitors the plug temperature and communicates with the car to automatically set the appropriate 24 amp charging current. No need to manually set the current – simply plug it in! Cable length is 12 inches. We use a thicker cable for maximum efficiency and it also is more comfortable to grip onto when connecting and disconnecting it from your Tesla vehicle’s mobile connector. Please note: Tesla vehicles may initially refuse to charge from a portable power source such an a generator or inverter, due to the charger not detecting an earth-ground connection. In case this applies to you, we offer the option of including a "neutral-bonding plug" which you would simply plug in to a spare outlet on your generator - this connects neutral to ground which makes the Tesla charger think it's grounded and letting you charge your vehicle.
Which adapter do you need?
Tesla vehicles delivered prior to December 15th 2017 came with the Gen 1 UMC. All new Tesla vehicles come with the Gen 2 or Gen 3 UMC. If you’re not sure, take a look at the charger cord that came with your car, and compare to the pictures below:
If your Tesla came with the Gen 1 UMC, it will not work with this adapter. All new Tesla vehicles come with the Gen 2 or Gen 3 UMC and can use this adapter.
